Customers rue of opening account, demand restoration of CDMs

Srinagar: The Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) installed by State Bank of India at prime locations is giving tough time to the customers of Valley..
As per the reports few CDMs have been installed in Kashmir and all are lying defunct from a long time with people saying that no attempt has been done to make them operational even.
A customer at State Bank of India’s Residency Road branch said that he is continuously visiting the CDM to deposit the cash of Rs 20000 from last so many days but it is not functional. “What is the fun of having the facility when the purpose for which it is being installed is not served,” he said.
The case with the CDM installed at Jawahar Nagar is no more different and the customers here are also making their way towards the bank for depositing the cash. “The CDM installed near to my house lies defunct. I am not able to deposit the cash in my account. As it is unsafe to keep the cash at home now I am here to deposit the cash waiting in a long ques”, said account holder Ali Mohd of Abi Guzar
“Otherwise the cash would have been deposited within no time”, he added.
Another customer Imran Ahmad of the Bank’s Qamarwari branch who was at the residency road CDM said that when the CDM of Jammu and Kashmir Bank just nearby is giving uninterrupted services to its customers why not of the State Bank of India(SBI).
The CDM at other places also remains out of order as per the witnesses.
When contacted senior bank official, he said that he will look into the matter.
He said that they will restore all defunct CDMs at an earliest.
