Srinagar: Scores of people on Friday evening staged a massive protest demonstration against the arrest of two youths and blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Vessu area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports reaching GNS said that people of Sadura took to streets at Vessu Qazigund and blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway. They demanded the release of two youths arrested during raids by government forces in the area.
Meanwhile, police used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. However, when reports last came in, the protests were going on in the area.
The protests ended after a senior police officer (SDPO concerned) intervened and assured people that the arrested youth will be brought back. (GNS)
