SRINAGAR:ย Residents of Durbal Bemina and Shariefabad are up arm against the Srinagar municipal Corporation (SMC) for removing the dustbins from the area.
The residents alleged that the main road in the area has turned into garbage dumping site which has resulted in to the stinking.
Adding that huge quantity of garbage is attracting the stray dogs endangering the lives of the residents. โWe are not able to move out as huge numbers of dogs are always rooming in the area. Our children are not able to go out alone for any purposeโ, a group of residents said.
ย Locals alleged that the municipality officials only appear in the area when they found any constructions going on to fetch bribe.
Residents ask if the government is claiming to implement Swach Bharat Abihyaan the how they failed to make municipal corporation work with dedication.ย ย They said that apart from threats of dog bites they fear breakout of diseases in the area.
Mymoonaย ย a student said that the stray dogs chase them and the vehicles resulting into fear among school going children. The locals demand installation of dustbins in the area immediately. They request SMC commissioner to take the notice of the matter at the earliest. They said if the department will not fulfill their genuine demand, they will hit streets to protest.
When contacted ward officer Mohd Abass he said, โThere are only 27 men in my ward but the area is vast. I have sent the proposal for the manpower. We will take sensitize the sanitation work in the areaโ. He added that the residents have to pay sanitation fee.
