Srinagar, Feb 25 : A cop who was injured after militants attack a police post guarding a famous shrine at Charisharief in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday afternoon succumbed to injuries.
SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh told GNS that the policeman Kultair Singh succumbed to injuries at army’s 92 base hospital here in Badamibagh Srinagar.
Earlier, SSP had said that militants fired upon sentry post guarding the Ziyarat Sharief this afternoon.
“In the incident, the sentry suffered injuries and has been hospitalized,” SSP had said.
Official sources had said that militants, after carried out the attack, decamped with a service rifle (SLR) of the policeman.
Soon after the incident government forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
However when this report was filled no one has been arrested so far. (GNS)
