Meerut, Feb 27 : Three wanted criminals were arrested after an encounter with police in Lisadi gate area here late on Monday night.
Police sources here on Tuesday said that acting on tip-off, a joint team of Lisadi gate police and crime branch intercepted three motorbike-borne suspects near Noor Nagar Railway halt but criminals opened fire on police team. In retaliatory firing, all three criminals were injured.
The injured, identified as Danish, Ujefa and Irshad alias Kala, were shifted to the hospital. Two country-made pistols and more than 12 cartridges were recovered from them.
More than 24 criminal cases, including loot and theft, were registered against them in police stations in nearby districts.
