New Delhi, Mar 1 : A day after being named as the captain of India ‘A’ team for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy, star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the tourney after an injury.

According to a BCCI statement, Ashwin has a niggling issue and the board’s medical team has advised him rest for a week.

In the absence of the 31-year-old, the selectors have included slow left-arm orthodox bowler Shahbaz Nadeem in the India ‘A’ side while Ankit Bawne has been named as captain of the side.
