Srinagar: Police on Thursday foiled a protest march of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and arrested its chief Engineer Rasheed alongwith some of his workers.

Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) had organized a protest march in solidarity with Jammu based Muslims and in support of the Article 370 and Article 35-A here in the summer capital.

Headed by the party head, Rasheed, the protesting workers of AIP, assembled at Sher-e-Kashmir Park Srinagar and later marched towards city center Lal Chowk chanting slogans and holding banners.

As soon as the protesters reached the Press Enclave the men in uniform swung into action and arrested Rasheed alongwith some of his workers and foiled their march, witnesses said.
