Sopore: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division in north Kashmir’s Sopore is facing allegations of violating the Election Code of Conduct (MCC) during recent macadamisation work in the Bomai and Tujar Sharif areas.
Residents claim that R&B targeted specific neighbourhoods to benefit a particular political party.
Locals have expressed strong objections to the macadamisation of link roads in Bomai, highlighting that roads like Shoda Mohalla, Chanhapura, and Danipura were resurfaced despite not being included in the original estimates.
Asif Ahmed, a Junior Engineer involved in the project, has come under fire from the community, prompting calls for immediate action against him.
Residents are demanding that a team of election observers be dispatched to Bomai to investigate the situation. They argue that if certain link roads are not part of the approved estimates, the macadamisation should not have occurred.
The people have appealed to the Election Commission, urging them to take swift action against the officers involved in this alleged misconduct.
