In order to keep a check on overpricing, hoarding and black marketing, Civil Administration and District Police Ganderbal conducted market checking at Main Market Kangan to ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates, and as per the quality standards with sufficient availability.

The checking squads comprised of District Police Ganderbal, Revenue Department, Food and Supplies, Geology and other concerned departments.

During checking, the team members checked rate lists, ensured hygienic environment of the shops, and expiry date of package commodities sold to consumers at MRPs, Package date, Net Content and other related information.
In the course of action, 14 hoteliers & Grocery Shopkeepers were challaned and fine of Rs.7800 was recovered on the spot.

Local people of the adjacent areas appreciated the efforts of District Police Ganderbal and Civil Administration and urged to continue such drives in the future as well.
