A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Sub-Inspector reportedly died by suicide in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Tuesday, according to officials.
   
The deceased, identified as 55-year-old Rajnath Prasad from Bihar, allegedly shot himself in the chest using his service rifle at a temporary CRPF post along the Tarakote route leading to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.
 
 Upon hearing the gunshot, his fellow personnel rushed to the spot and discovered him dead. Police have initiated inquest proceedings to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. [KNT]
